Learn to Surf
If you are staying in Newquay, why not learn to surf or brush up on your surfing skills, with The Escape Surf School? They are based in central Newquay on the premises of St Christopher's Inn, overlooking Towan beach and Newquay bay.
Surf lessons take place on either Towan, Great Western or Fistral beach depending upon the tides and conditions of the day, all of which are a couple of minutes walk from the surf school. The lessons are 2.5 hours long, and are run twice daily, every day at 10am and 2pm.
The Surf School teaches all levels of surfing from complete beginners to advanced and contest surfing, so whether you are hitting the waves for the first time or already know how to surf , but want to iron out some problems or try a new manoeuvre then the Escape Surf School has something for you.
The cost of the lessons includes all equipment (board & wetsuit) and they have a secure heated changing room, hot showers and a bar and restaurant on site.
All the instructors are fully qualified British Surfing Association (BSA) Surf Coaches & Beach Lifeguards, and the 2 lead coaches Mike Young and Will Hinton have over 17 years of coaching experience between them.
Mike is a level 4 surf coach, and has been surfing for 30 years; he is also the Great British Team Coach, so you can be sure you are learning from the best.
The Escape Surf School are recognised by the BSA as a “British Surf School” – Academy level, which means they reach the required standard with regard to coaching, holding correct documentation, integration with the community, service provision and so on.

We have a minimum age limit of 8 years old and all participants should be able to swim 50 metres.
