Blue Chip Zapcat Powerboat Grand Prix Championship

23rd Apr – 25th Apr

The weekend becomes the first major event for Newquay when it host the opening round of the Zapcat championship.On the evening of St George's Day (Friday 23rd), a grand Zapcats Parade will take place through the town featuring competitors and boats, raising awareness of the Grand Prix, and attracting visitors to come to the event over the weekend.

Run to the Sun

Run to the Sun held it's first event way back in 1987 and has grown into one of the largest Custom Car, VW and dance festivals in Europe since its conception. Run to the Sun is a 3 day event spread over 2 sites in Newquay; Trevelgue Holiday Park which is the main event site and Tregunnel car park which hosts the Show 'n' Shine. 3 nights of live entertainment complete with DJ's, visual performers and laser shows. Comedy, Live Music, and the chill-out tent are housed in our 3 smaller arena's providing 3 nights of live bands, stand-up comedy and chilled-out tunes.

Midsummer Night Surf

Night surfing returns to Lusy Glaze Beach! Lights will be turned on at dusk and surfing will continue on the Friday and Saturday until 11.30pm. There will be a new event format to excite and inspire competitors and spectators.

Surfboat Racing

Under the banner of authentic Aussie beach culture, men and women pit themselves against the ocean. Teams of four, guided by their sweep (helmsperson), race their surfboats out through the breaking surf and, all being well, catch a wave back in again.

Boardmasters 2010

The highlight of the UK surfing calendar is Europe's biggest surf, skate and music festival. It brings world class surfing to Newquay, along with seven nights of music and skateboarding on Fistral Beach. The 5 Star world qualifying is the pick of the week with some of the worlds best surfers competing for over $100,000 in prize money. The Vans Summer Sessions is the skate equivalent with a total prize purse of $20,000.

Quiksilver Skins Event

The Quiksilver Skins surf contest will take place on August bank holiday at Fistral Beach, Newquay. This unique event will see 8 of the UK & Ireland's most iconic surf shops compete for the chance to win a trip to the legendary Quiksilver Pro France.

Newquay Fish Festival

10th Sep – 12th Sep

The event showcases one of Newquays hidden gems 'the harbour' and has proven an extremely popular event with both residents and visitors. The practical cookery demonstrations by local chefs are undoubtedly the highlight of the festival, with hotels and restaurants being able to promote local fresh fish and shellfish and locally available produce. Also you'll find food tasting, talks and boat trips. Fantastic fun for all the family.

Polo on the Beach

One of the most glamorous events in the Newquay events calendar - sunbleached surfers rubbing shoulders with the thoroughbred polo set in a late summer's evening of saltwater adrenaline. Over 20 polo ponies will be on the beach to play in an exhibition match, which is completely free for spectators.

British National Surf Championships

Another BSA organised event in the exciting 2010 calendar for Fistral Beach. Around 150 of the best British surfers are expected to battle it out in the women's, men's and seniors' competitions.

Check out the only leg of the Zapcat circuit that takes place on a surfing beach and witness these super-powered, twin-hulled catamarans leap and twist out of the water. A great family spectacle!

BSUPA Championships

Exponents of the latest form of surfing will be gracing the Cornish waves this weekend to decide the new British champions. For the second year, the Extreme Academy will host the final round of the British Stand Up Paddle Association (BSUPA)'s national championships.
